Well we are fast approaching the half way point of 2006 so its time to re-access my life and make a fresh start........so look forward to the next post in a few months

Birthday Treat

It was my 39th birthday last weekend so one more year until the dreaded 40.

Anyway my wife Mandy took me away for the weekend to a place called Baslow Hall in Derbyshire. The idea behind this trip was my love of good food and Baslow Hall has a Michelin star rated restaurant.

On arrival we found that the restaurant has also recently been awarded another AA rosette taking it from three to four rosettes. There are only 15 four rosette restaurants in the UK and I think there are less than 10 five rossette ones so I guess Baslow Hall now has to be considered in the top 25 restaurants in the UK.

Anyway whatever its rating the food was fantastic and if you feel like spoiling yourself with a weekend in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside while treating yourself to a fine dinning experience then I can highly recommend it.

Why another blog to not post to

I'm sat here realising its been almost 2 months since I last posted to“The Big Dreams of a Little Mind” so why in the world do I want to start another Blog. (”Waffle with Meaning”)

Well the truth is I live two lives. One amongst geeks and nerds and the other with friends and family. These two worlds very rarely meet. My friends have no interest in how I have been researching Object Persistence Frameworks or the latest Application Blocks, while the geeks and nerds don’t really want to know how much I just enjoyed my holiday to Egypt. (Just so no one gets upset, especially the geeks and nerds I fully acknowledge there are some geeks who I also consider friends)

I guess many technical people manage to successfully mix personal and professional information on their blogs but I have to say I find it annoying when I subscribe to the blog of some product team member because I have an interest in the product only to find myself spending days receiving posts on how their latest child is being potty trained.

So now I have two blogs to not post to. If you are interested in my professional life then monitor “The Big Dreams of a Little Mind” , if you are more interested in who I am personally then watch “Waffle with Meaning”. The truth is you probably wont learn much from either but at least I will feel better that I am not talking about potty training my Application Blocks.
